Signs & Symptoms of Teenage Depression
Teen depression isn't just bad moods and sadness. It affects every aspect of a teen's life and can ultimately affect them very negatively if not addressed. Unlike adults, teens are unable to seek out assistance on their own, so as an adult, it's critical for you to recognize the warning signs.
Teen depression doesn't always present the way that typical adult depression does. For example, sadness isn't always the first symptom. Listed below are some of the most common symptoms and warning signs that your teen may be suffering from depression:
- Irritability, anger or hostility
- Withdrawal from family and friends
- Loss of interest in activities which were once pleasurable
- Agitation or restlessness
- Feelings of worthlessness
- Lack of enthusiasm and motivation
- Difficulty concentrating
- Tearfulness or frequent crying
